I think morning and I Are Still Learning About Each Other

A Difficult Beginning

If someone had asked me a year ago whether I liked mornings, I probably would've laughed. Waking up early felt like a punishment more than a choice. The warmth of my bed always won the argument, and the world outside seemed far too quiet to be worth leaving it. Morning wasn't something I appreciated—it was simply the part of the day I had to get through.

But lately, something has changed.

I still wouldn't call myself a morning person. Some days I still struggle to get out of bed, and there are mornings when I wish I could sleep for another hour. Yet little by little, I've started noticing things I never paid attention to before. It's almost as if morning and I are slowly getting to know each other

The first thing I noticed was the silence.

Not the uncomfortable kind, but the peaceful kind. Before the traffic begins, before notifications start filling our phones, and before the world seems to rush in every direction, there is a short moment when everything feels... still.

At first, I didn't know what to do with that silence. I was so used to constant noise that it almost felt strange. But after a while, I realized that silence isn't empty. It's full of thoughts that usually get buried beneath the rest of the day.

Sometimes I find myself thinking about things I hadn't even realized were on my mind. Other times, I simply enjoy watching the sky slowly change colors as the sun rises. Nothing extraordinary happens, yet those few minutes somehow feel meaningful.

Small Things I Never Noticed

Morning has also taught me to notice smaller details.

The cool air that disappears once the day gets warmer. The birds that seem much louder before everyone else wakes up. The streets that feel completely different without crowds. Even sunlight feels different in the morning. Softer, almost gentle.

These aren't things I actively searched for. They were always there. I was simply moving too fast to notice them.

I think that's true about many parts of life. We often believe something has changed, when in reality, we've only started paying attention.

Maybe I'm the One Changing

At first, I thought mornings had become more beautiful.

Now I'm starting to think that maybe mornings haven't changed at all.

Maybe I have.

Perhaps growing up means learning to appreciate moments that once seemed ordinary. Not because they've become more exciting, but because we've become more present. The quiet that once felt boring now feels calming. The slow pace that once annoyed me now gives me time to think.

I'm still learning what these mornings mean to me, but they've taught me one important thing: not every valuable moment has to be loud or unforgettable. Sometimes the moments that shape us are the ones that almost go unnoticed.

Still Learning

I don't think morning and I know each other completely yet.

There are still days when I wake up tired, when the silence feels too quiet, or when I rush through the start of my day without noticing anything at all. But that's okay. Relationships take time, even the strange ones we build with places, habits, or moments of the day.

Maybe that's why I chose this title. Morning isn't something I've mastered or fully understood. It's something I'm still discovering, one sunrise at a time.

And perhaps that's the beauty of it. Every new morning feels like another quiet conversation, reminding me that some of the best things in life don't ask for attention—they simply wait to be noticed.

I really enjoyed reading this. I loved the idea that mornings didn’t change—you simply started noticing them differently. It reminded me that sometimes growth isn’t about changing the world around us, but changing the way we experience it.
