I think one of the biggest misconceptions about relationships is that the person who puts in more effort at the beginning will always be the one who cares more throughout. In reality, people change, circumstances change, and sometimes the excitement of a new relationship slowly turns into the comfort of having someone around. But I don’t think that comfort should ever become an excuse to stop making an effort. The little things that people do in the beginning, like checking up on each other, remembering small details, making time despite busy schedules, and reassuring each other without being asked, matter just as much later on. At the same time, I feel like we sometimes confuse the end of the initial excitement with the end of love. Love naturally becomes different with time, but it shouldn’t become careless. A healthy relationship isn’t about constantly proving your love through grand gestures; it’s about making sure the other person doesn’t have to keep questioning their place in your life. And honestly, effort should never be measured by gender. Both people deserve to feel valued, understood, and chosen, even after the relationship stops feeling new.

Relationships may lose their initial excitement, but love should never lose its effort. Both partners need to keep choosing each other, communicating, and making each other feel valued. ❤️
