I feel like the real struggle isn’t choosing between the heart and the mind, but learning when to listen to each of them. The heart allows us to feel things deeply, connect with people, and find meaning in experiences that logic alone could never explain. The mind, on the other hand, helps us recognise patterns, understand consequences, and protect ourselves from decisions we might regret later. The problem begins when either one completely takes over. Following only your heart can sometimes make you ignore things you should be paying attention to, while following only your mind can make you walk away from things that genuinely matter to you. I think maturity is realising that emotions deserve to be acknowledged, but they don’t always have to make the final decision. Similarly, logic is important, but not everything meaningful in life can be explained through reason. Sometimes the best decisions are the ones where you allow yourself to feel everything without letting every feeling control you. Maybe balance isn’t about silencing either side, but understanding what each one is trying to tell you.

This resonates for me… I have debilitating anxiety 😦and long covid. I have to deal with other people having expectations beyond what I can do and I am of course disappointing them often! Inversely, I expected my people to listen and at least understand what I was going through and they did not, and keep insisting that I will get better 5 1/2yrs later🙄. I really can’t handle anymore disappointment. I have lost the ability to constantly read my emotions and decipher between them and my brain does not help at all during a panic attack, it just rings loudly like always and offers no support. Natural remedies keep me calmer now but I have no diagnosis, no help in sight, and the state cancelled my medical so I just take it hour by hour and day by day.
