I recently finished my studies and theres is nothing of absolute essence that K am currently engaged in. After five years of being away from home, this is my first time spending so much time here and that too without anything productive to do.

Dor the first few days all I coild do was sleep to my hearts content. After sometime, the weariness faded and I came back to a normal sleep schedule, with more than 15 hours at hand to kill. As a person who enjoys cooking that hadn’t had much opportunity to do it for having lived in hostel, I started searching for different recipes online and experimenting with flavours. Most of these dishes were fried, oily and extremely high in both fat and calorie.

This went on for about a month and alongside next to no physical activity, the greasy food added to my weight and my energy level falling tremendously.

My family was to visit my Aunt and uncle who live abroad this month. We were to stay with them for around five days and to go site seeing all ove the city. My uncle kept noticing my moves and my activities. A person with good health in his early 70s, he has always been fit and active. On my last day at his house, he pointed to me that I should take care of myself. I could bot understand him at first.

He explained to me in great detail that while living in a hostel, I was extremely skinny to the point of looking almost sick. this may have been due to the stress of academics and the quality of food that was offered. However, now that I had nothing to worry about, my weight had extremely rised and my energy extremely fallen. He said that although he would not consider me fat, it is notable how easy it was for me to get obese with the given trends. Both these extremes pointed to a aingoe fact, that I was not taking care of myself at either of these points. He said that while lifestyle change should happen due to the situation, it should be the one of resistance and not surrender. My change was a cause of surrendering to my circumstances, when i should have been challenging them. In the former case, I should have eaten more and exercised in accordance with the demands of my academic life, while now that i was at home, i should exercise more to compensate for the lack of physical activity in my life. This in turn would also serve my energy and my activeness.

He suggested me to eat unhealthy food in absolute moderation, to replace processed food with healthier snacks and to treat myself with sugar once in a while.

His statement that really resonated was “Eat everything, and do everything, but with discipline.”

After having returned from his place, I started eating more protein, less carbs, exercising 5 days a week, drinking more water, cutting sugar off to a certain extent and giving myself time to reflect on my health.

Now, people have often been saying that my form, face and body are radiating a positive energy!
