Daily dose of chocolate

Children love chocolates. I was a no exception to that rule. When I was a child I love chocolates a lot. There was restriction on eating chocolates at my home. My parents would give me one chocolate a day I when I was a child. I used to hate that restriction. I used to feel that we should get unlimited quantity of chocolates. I wanted to have the freedom to eat as many chocolates as I wanted.

When I was a child someone had told me that once you grow up and start earning you will get all the freedom you want. With your money you can buy anything you want. I was thrilled with this idea. The first thing that came to my mind was buying chocolates. I decided at that time that when I will go up and the start working I will eat one chocolate every day. And when I said one chocolate I did not mean a small chocolate. As a child Kit Kat used to be my favourite chocolate. I was thinking that I will eat an entire Kit Kat everyday when I will start working. I had imagined myself. I was a grown women who had been wearing fashionable clothes. I imagined myself going to a shop. I smile at the shopkeeper and ask for a Kit Kat. The shopkeeper gives me the chocolate. IPM and start eating the chocolate. I detach section of Kit Kat and then indulge in its exquisite taste. This was my dream. It did sound so fantastic back then.

Now I am a grown woman. I am working and earning money. In all my career I do not remember a single day when I enjoyed buying and eating a chocolate. Whenever I had bought a chocolate that was because I was not feeling well. It was one way to increase the stimulation, to bring my blood pressure back to normal. I had not eaten a chocolate for fun or pleasure. It was eaten as a remedy.

Looking back I always feel that how the childhood dream was so simple and innocent. I never dreamt of becoming or successful business woman. I never had the dream of going to the office everyday and earn salary. I had no ambitions of becoming a manager. I never look forward to having appraisals and promotions. My dream was simple. Earn nough to buy a chocolate every day

I think it is the education system that corrupts our innocence. I also believe it is the toxic work culture that destroys of a simple dreams. I never wanted to become the stressful employee that I had become. I never wanted the weight of success of my project. I never wanted to chase the dream that was not even mine. I was fed with lies and the weight of others expectations. I never wanted any of it. But this is how corporate life is. It corrupts the good part. It poisons a good person. It tries suffocate us. Corporate culture brings nothing good to our lives. It only destroys our lives.

In the end my dream of daily dose of chocolate has still not been fulfilled. The worse part is that I am even not one bit excited about full feeling that dream.
