Craze of social media

A friend of mine had shown a social media post to me. That post made me think about the craze of posting on social media. This was something I wanted to get of my chest.

The post was made by my friend's relative. She was my friends cousin. Her name was Nisha. Nisha had a daughter whose name was Neha. Neha was a 6 year old child. Nisha's brother Naveen was an artist. On Neha 6th birthday Naveen had painted Neha's portrait. Now here comes the weird part. To paint Neha's portrait Naveen had used his own blood and not colours. Naveen had called a nurse from hospital to draw his blood intravenously. Approximately 20 ml of blood was drawn from Naveen veins. This blood was Ford on the painting palette. Navin has used this blood to paint the portrait of Neha. This portrait was gifted to Neha on her birthday. This entire process was documented and posted on social media. There have been many comments by many people suggesting that this is a pure form of love.

When I saw this social media post my stomach churned. I found this to be a sick act. There have been many movies where in the crazy stalker serial killer uses his or her own blood to paint the picture of their victims. I found this incident similar to what we had seen in the films. I had a lot of concerns about this entire incident.

First and the least serious concern - microbial growth. We are very well aware that blood is a biological fluid that promotes growth of microorganisms very easily. There is a high chance that the poster will get oxidised within few hours. The microbial growth would begin shortly and it would cause serious infection.

My second concern and its seriousness is slightly higher than the previous one. What kind of obsession and uncle can have towards his knees to paint her portrait with his own blood? How Nisha and Nisha's husband even allowed this? How Naveen's parents did not opposed to help idea? To me it gives stalker or a psycho killer vibes.

My third concern the most serious one. The recipe and of this gift is a 6 year old child. Are we normalising painting portraits with blood? What message to be want to give to a 6 year old by giving her such present? RV teaching her that receiving such gifts is normal?

That social media post definitely don't of my mood for that day. Call me whatever you want but I am not ok with this. If this was my own child I would have asked my child not to accept such gift. If this was my own brother I would have told him not to do any such stunts. If this was my own child who planned to paint someone's portrait with blood I would have given him two tight slaps. I felt that every person in that social media post required psychiatric treatment. Doing such vile theme is one part. Posting it on social media for likes, comments, and engagement is a totally different part. Both are sick and evil.
