Before perfect
Today i was reading this essay called “sheety first draft” by anne lamot. She talks about how all the successful writers have the messy first draft they are imperfect and they make them perfect with time and practice.
And I realise that how true is that and how this situation fits in every adoect of our life.
I have realised with time and of course this is merely my experience i am not asking you to agree with me but to be honest I really think that this happens with everyone of us.
Remember when we have a hobbies or we really like something like for me i am a kind of a person who have too many intrest i really like cooking, painting, writing, reading ect. Or i can say i like the idea of all this things but when there is time to actually do that i all ways find excuses because i have this image of perfection in my mind of all this things, that I should baked the amazing cookies in the first go, i am supposed to write the amazing article in my first attempt, whenever i take brush in hand i can only give a masterpiece .
But in reality that’s not happens write everything is messy when we do things for first time and we all deep down know that but the image of our perfection is so fixated in our mind that the reality never touch the expectation. And that’s where we give up we leave.
I think we should reall be comfortable with the imperfection, we should enjoy that, the burnt cookies , messy paintings , unorganised articles, and keep going until we really forget what was perfect and enjoy doing it all the perfection will come automatically.
I remember for very long time i had this idea of myself reading books i had this image in my mind that i really love books( I actually do though) but i had this perfect image that would read hundreds of books i was saving every book recommendation reel except reading one , the image of being perfect reader was so much in my mind that it scared me to actually read because it make me felt low that it’s taking me so much time to read one one book but i just started reading I ignore that image for a second I really put myself there to lost in words and I didn’t even realise when I really enjoying it not worrying about count i was the book at a time and in a blink of an eye I finished so many books i am still reading, finishing one by one enjoying the process and that what I should do with all my other things i want to do, I doesn’t matter how many recipes i have to messed up I should show up still every day, and one I wouldn’t even realised I already had become a great cook.
I have read some where that “you have to make it exist first, you can make it perfect later”.
Oh my god I used to think exactly like this. I was so afraid of not living up to expectations regarding the most mundane stuff, until life humbled me. Lol.
this is so motivating honestly
This is so beautifully written. Sometimes we judge ourselves a bit hardly when we ourselves didn't know whag we could have done
