As it was…
I’m nineteen now but once I was five . It was an age where there was only one problem “ home work”. I remember how my parents used to help me with the lessons and how I was a topper of the class . The tastiest snack of all used to be jaggery and ghee rapped in the crisp stale roti and it was not just the ingredients but the fact that mumma used to feed the snack with her own hands. Papa used to play my stupid games with me without making me look like an idiot . But i’am nineteen now from crying over everything on mumma’s lap to hiding tears from her life has had a drastic change . The biggest problem is not home work anymore it’s the pressure of letting my parents down in front of the society it’s about cracking that one exam upon which society thinks my life depends on . Mumma doesn’t feed with her hands anymore cause we’re all busy in our rooms with our mobiles . Papa doesn’t ask about how his little girl is instead all his talk revolves around studies .I don’t blame anyone for this cause maybe this is what growing up feels like but whatever it might be …….. I think i wanna be 5 again
literally have never felt this seen before. i want to go back to my childhood. my dad back then was like an ideal figure i looked up to, now all i can do to maintain my peace is not talk to him.
I too feel that sometimes. the childhood was happier than the adulthood. when we grow up all discussions are around studies or work. nobody really asks us about weather we are happy. nobody wants to do anything nice for us. unfortunately this is the sad reality.
You have explained something so many of us feel but rarely say out loud. Wishing your inner five year old self always finds comfort.
