A frog story

This is a funny stories from my childhood. I laugh about it even today when I narrated to someone.
That time I was 4 year old. Me and my family were on a trip to Goa via Konkan. It was I think a four day trip. It probably was the second day of our trip. I was with my cousins so I was delighted. A four year old exploring a world with her favourite cousins nothing could talk that happiness.
We were travelling by road. It was a tourist bus. We had reached a village in Konkan. It was afternoon time. The summer in Konkan it was super hot and super humid. Though being the youngest one in the trip, I was still sweating heavily. We had Limited quantity of fresh water. My mother had told me to drink aliquots of water otherwise I would have to visit the restroom frequently. As an obedient girl I had followed my mother's instructions.
We had taken a halt at that village in Konkan for lunch. Undoubtedly, Konkan was breathtaking. Even in the harsh summer, it was lush green. If there could have been a heaven in summer it surely was Konkan. After lunch be asked our guide where can we find water. He guided us to an old well. He freached water for us and we filled our water bottles with that muddy and murkey water. At that time and at that age I did not find it unhygienic. I was not concerned about the safety of that water. Not even once we thought about the presence of bacterias and parasites in that water. We were thankful that at least we were able to find water in that area and we were able to fill our bottle with it.
Then came the most interesting and the memorable part of our visit. Needless to say humerus as well. It was the time to depart. The tour guide openly informed all the tourist to visit the restrooms before leaving because the next stop was going to be after 3 hours. We appreciated his openness and concern for the wellbeing of the tourists. There were separate restrooms for men and women. Obviously I went with my mother to the restroom. What happened next changed the entire story of the trip.
So when we went to use the restroom my mother instructed me to go first. Sse waited outside the restroom carrying the cap and other accessories. I visited the restroom and I came outside that is when she handed me the accessories so that she could use the restroom. I took all the accessories from her and I stood near a wall which was at the restroom. I had leaned against the wall and kept one of my hands against the wall. In the other hand I was holding bags and accessories. Suddenly I felt something against the palm of my hand. I felt slight moment against my palm. I was scared to see what is under the palm of my hand. I waited for my mother to return. When she returned I told her that something is under my hand and I am scared to move my hand. If there is a creature sitting under my hand it will attack me. My mother said regardless of my fear I would Still need to move my hand because we have to leave. So I moved my hand I tried to overcome my fear. When I moved my hand, me and my mother both were shocked. We never imagine what could have been under my hand. It was a mid size frog sitting at the wall. Probably I did not notice the frog and kept my hand against the wall and the frog got trapped under it. I was surprised as well as slightly scared. Surprised because I could not imagine how I did not notice the frog and still kept my hand on it. Scared because I thought the frog would have bitten me or at least because touching the frog I might get rashes. My mother simply laughed at me and told me nothing would happen.
We returned to our tourist bus and I told my dad and my cousins what happened at the restroom. Everybody had a blast. My cousins called me the frog holder.
This incident occurred at least 30 years ago. It is still very fresh in my mind. Even today when I meet my cousins they always remind me of this incident. Not just that my nieces and nephews are also aware of the story and they called me the frog holder aunty.
Trips are always me memorable. Mostly those are made memorable by people. In this case it was made memorable by a frog.
Ohh that is so cute....THE FRIG HOLDER AUNTY 😊😊
