A friend I do not want

I had a colleague in my office. She was a few years younger to me. She was married and she had a son. While I am unmarried unapologetically. Whenever I meet her or speak with her I get a feeling that somehow she is not a person to be included in my circle.

First what bothers me is that she tells me her marital problems. She deacribes those to me in great details, including the intimate details. Sometimes she asks my opinion on the intimacy. I have no idea why that question should come to me. She is very well aware of my relationship status and yet ahe asks me such questions. I do not respond. But I get a feeling that she deliberately asks me such questions to get my reaction.

Second thing that bothers me about her that she shares plethora of diet and exercise tips with me. Saying this works; try this and see the results yourself; or this helps losing the pregnancy weight. The reason why it bothers me is that I am lean and fit. I follow the diet and exercises advised by my doctor. I never asked for for any tips and exercises. I have never been pregnant, so what is the need to share the exercise to lose the pregnancy weight? That makes me furious.

Third thing that bothers to me is her thinking. She comes from a small town and has that small town thinking. She speaks about outdated concepts which do not sit well with me. I do not say anything because I do not wish to waste my energy on explaining. I know her small town thinking is not going to improve.

The question is why am I still friends with her? That question I ask myself too. I really do not want to stay friends with her or even in contact with her. I am working towards it. I do not respond to the content she shares with me towards diet and exercise. If she is little smart she would figure out that I do not wish to receive such posts. If she is dumb or thinks highly of herself she would continue sending those to me. Anyway, they will be ignored even in the future.

I do not meet her nowadays, I have not outright told her that I do not want to meet. But whenever she asks me to meet, I tell her that I am busy. I have no interest in meeting her and wasting my time. I would rather do something interesting like watching the paint dry.

People like her are vampires. They suck the happiness out of their companions. They suck the energy out of the people around them. They spread poison and negativity wherever they go. My energy and time are valuable to me and I do not wish to spend those on her. She is not worth it.

So this is the story of a friend I want to disconnect with. I am trying my best to maintain my distance from her and staying away from her as much as possible.
